Calgary photographer Neil Speers is offering your family a truly unique and personal statement of their love for each other.

This type of photography isn’t for everybody.

Some people just can’t afford it. While not outrageously expensive with all inclusive session and print packages starting at $299, doing a session like this does take more than the five or ten minutes a discount studio devotes to its clients. There is also the care and attention to retouching and presentation of the final image that is beyond the scope of chain studios. We devote the time it takes for your family to get the best possible image.

As well, many people are only used to holding small, snapshot prints and have yet to realize how gorgeous a properly sized wall print can look and how it can enhance any decor. If you’ve watched shows on home decorating, you’ll have often seen designers taking family photos and enlarging them to form unique, personal and affordable art for the walls of peoples homes.

We are shooting these sessions in your home for several reasons.

People are generally most comfortable in their own spaces rather than in an “alien” studio. And being comfortable helps create the best possible portrait. As well, its easiest for the photographer to help families coordinate their clothing properly when its all available to use. And finally, there aren’t several families waiting at the door for their turn. Again, we devote our time to you and your family.

What can you expect when booking Speers Photography for a session?

Our photographer will arrive at your home with a small, portable lighting setup. Together, you will chose the best location in your home for the session – and there may be some minor rearrangement of furniture and background details. We’re not going to redecorate your whole home, but may refine the setting if needed. You’ll discuss the clothing choices with the photographer to make sure that the clothing doesn’t become distracting in the final image – the emphasis should be on you and your family, not what you’re wearing.

Once your family is ready, the session will start and the photographer will guide you through the posing and help you to relax, have fun and show the love your family has.

After the session you will review the photos on the photographer’s laptop and together with our photographer, you get to immediately choose which image, or images, you will receive. It’s not like the old days when you had to wait weeks just for the proofs.

Back at the office, the photographer will retouch and finalize the image, and have it printed.

You’ll soon receive the finished portrait.
